My name is Theo. I am a practicing paramedic and the owner of MyMedEquip, a local Hobart first aid and medical supply company. I wanted to reach out personally to introduce myself and to offer something I think every school in Southern Tasmania should take me up on.
Free Onsite AED and First Aid Audit
For Southern Tasmania Schools. No cost. No obligation.
I am offering a free site visit to schools across Southern Tasmania to help assess your current AED and first aid readiness. As a paramedic, I have seen firsthand what happens when equipment is not in the right place, or when it is out of date. I want to make sure that does not happen at your school.
Is there a time that suits you for a site visit? Simply reply to this email and I will organise a visit at a time that works for your team.
Reply to Book Your Free AuditI am also proud to be introducing a new German-engineered AED to the Australian market: the PRIMEDIC HeartSave myPAD. It is the most compact, capable, and school-friendly defibrillator available in Australia right now, and I would love to show you why.
As a local paramedic, I offer free site visits to schools across Southern Tasmania to help with:
AED Placement and Readiness Check
We assess whether your AED is positioned correctly, accessible, and ready to deploy within the critical 3-minute window.
First Aid Kit Compliance Review
We check your kits against current Australian first aid standards and identify any expired or missing consumables.
Consumable Replacement
Pads, batteries, gloves, CPR masks and other time-sensitive items replaced on the spot or ordered immediately.
Risk-Based Recommendations
Written recommendations for high-traffic areas, sports facilities, and any zones identified as higher risk.

No Mandatory Requirement Yet in Tasmania
Unlike South Australia (mandatory from January 2025) and Western Australia (mandatory in all public schools from June 2024), Tasmania does not yet have a legislated requirement for AEDs in schools. However, the national trend is clear and the expectation from parents, staff, and insurers is growing rapidly.
Tasmanian Government Community Defibrillator Fund
The Tasmanian Government operates a Community Defibrillator Fund and GoodSAM AED registration programme. Schools that register their AED with GoodSAM ensure it is visible to emergency services dispatchers, meaning it can be directed to cardiac arrest incidents in the community as well as on school grounds.
Recommended Maintenance Schedule
Regardless of legislation, the standard recommendation for AED maintenance in Australian schools is: pads replaced every 2 years, battery replaced every 4 years, and a full unit readiness check annually. The PRIMEDIC HeartSave myPAD reduces this burden significantly with its 5-year battery and pad shelf life.
AED Legislation by State

| Queensland | Mandatory | All state schools |
| New South Wales | Recommended | Department of Education guidelines |

| Tasmania | Voluntary | Community Defibrillator Fund available |
